For Foreign Visitors

Seoul’s hiking culture is vibrant and welcoming, but it can be difficult to navigate as a visitor. Trail signs are often in Korean only, buses operate on local knowledge, and park access rules vary by season. Seoul Trail exists to bridge that gap โ€” giving you the practical information a well-traveled local friend would share before you set out.

The Trails

Seoul sits inside a natural amphitheatre of granite peaks. Bukhansan National Park in the north, Gwanaksan to the south, and a dozen smaller ranges in between make the city one of the most hikeable capitals in the world. Most summits are reachable by subway in under an hour from the city centre.

Our trail selection covers a range of difficulty levels and themes โ€” peaceful forest walks, historic fortress ridge hikes, dramatic summit views, and night trails with city panoramas.

Hike Safely

Seoul’s mountains are well-maintained and clearly marked, but conditions can change quickly. A few reminders before you go:

  • Check the weather forecast โ€” trails close during heavy rain and high winds
  • Bring more water than you think you need
  • Start early to avoid peak crowds and afternoon heat in summer
  • Emergency number in Korea: 119 (fire, medical)
